Mark Gold is a former 20-year member of the Chicago Board of Trade where he was a pit trader and floor broker. During his time on the floor Mark served as Chairman of the Soybean Pit Committee and on the Public Relations Committee. While born and raised in Chicago, Mark earned a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois, giving him unique insights from both the urban and rural perspective.
Mark has also been a floor trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, International Monetary Market, Sydney Futures Exchange, and the New Orleans Commodity Exchange where he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
As managing partner of Top Third Ag Marketing, Mark can be heard daily on Nebraska radio KRVN, Kansas radio KFRM and Missouri radio KMZU. In addition, Mark is a regular guest analyst on U.S. Farm Report and Ag Day TV. Mark’s twice daily audio grain marketing comments are featured on AgWeb.
Mark’s passion for Agriculture can best be observed at one of the 30-40 marketing seminars he presents across the U.S. every year for Ag bankers, grain elevators and other agriculturally oriented firms.
Well-known on the Chicago Board of Trade’s grain floor, Daniels Trading founder and CEO, Andy Daniels, is regarded by fellow grain traders as an expert in his field. Andy has created the Daniels Ag Advisory (DAA) using the knowledge and feel for the markets that he has gleaned over the past 21 years of day-to-day trading activity.
Dan handles compliance and operations at Top Third, and is also a featured presenter for Top Third marketing seminars. A current member of the Chicago Board of Trade, he began his trading career over 30 years ago as a floor broker in the grain options pits when they first opened for trading in 1984. Dan moved into the soybean futures pit in 1988, where he first met Mark Gold. In addition to his 15-plus years trading on the floor of the CBOT, Dan has also traded on the CME, the CBOE, and spent several years trading on the floor of the LIFFE in London. After returning from London, Dan moved from the floor to the screen and traded electronically for over 10 years before joining Top Third.
Dan grew up outside of Chicago and spent his summers on his grandparents’ farm in Southeastern Wisconsin where his grandfather bred Angus cattle and once owned the “Bull of the Century”, Prince Eric of Sunbeam. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Finance and now lives outside of Chicago with his wife and three daughters. They continue to spend time at the family farm where they enjoy fishing, and working on a small but growing hops operation with their large extended family.
